Chowdhury Md Babul Hassan

Chowdhury Md Babul Hassan joined the Ministry of Religious Affairs as Secretary on February 26, 2014. He is responsible as Chief Executive Officer for the overall administration and management of the ministry as well as departments and organizations under the ministry. Islamic Foundation, Office of the Waqf Administrator, Hindu Religious Welfare Trust, Buddhist Religious Welfare Trust, Christian Religious Welfare Trust are the five statutory organizations attached to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Apart from that, the ministry has permanent Hajj mission offices at Jeddah, Macca and Madina in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). That’s why Mr Hassan is also responsible as one of the key members of overall Hajj management of Bangladesh. The ministry has at present several development/ technical projects. Secretary is the chairman of the project steering committees of all those projects.
Chowdhury Md Babul Hassan was born on October 15, 1956. He received MSS in Political Science. He appeared in the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) competitive examination of 1983 conducted by Bangladesh Public Service Commission and qualified for appointment in the Administrative Service as member of BCS (Admin) Cadre. He joined as Assistant Commissioner in DC office Barishal on 1983. He served in different districts in Bangladesh including Jhalakathi, Bhola, Jessore, Patuakhali, Rangamati, Gazipur and Narsingdi. He joined as Upazila Nirbahi Officer at Naniarchar in Rangamati on 1990. In 2000 Mr Hassan joined as Private Secretary to State Minister in Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism. He was the Secretary (Deputy Secretary to the Government) of Shilpakala Academy in 2005 and Director of Bangladesh Freedom Fighter Welfare Trust in 2006. He also served as Director, Bangladesh Public Libraries under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs. In 2008 and 2009 he was the member of the Board of Investment in the rank of Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary to the Government respectively. Before joining Ministry of Religious Affairs as Secretary Mr Hassan acted as Secretary, Bangladesh Public Service Commission from March 01, 2010 to February 25, 2014.
During his 30 years long service career, Chowdhury Md Babul Hassan joined several training courses including Survey and Settlement Training, Foundation Training, Rural Development Training, Law and Administration Training. He visited Hong Kong, India, UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as official tours and training aboard.
Chowdhury Md Babul Hassan is one of the heroic freedom fighters of the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. He is the author of the book titled "Nishanga Nirjhar" which was published in January 02, 1998.
